What Is Raspberry Ketones?
Raspberry ketones are aromatic compounds responsible for the scent of raspberries. They are structurally similar to synephrine and capsaicin. Animal studies show elevated adiponectin and reduced fat accumulation, but the doses used in mouse studies are 100–1000× what is achievable with human supplements.
How It Works: The Science
Proposed mechanism: raspberry ketones stimulate adiponectin secretion from adipocytes. Adiponectin enhances insulin sensitivity and fat oxidation. However, the concentrations required to demonstrate these effects in cell and animal studies exceed achievable human plasma concentrations by several orders of magnitude.
Primary Mechanism
Adiponectin elevation (proposed), norepinephrine sensitisation
