Weight Management
White Kidney Bean Extract (Phase 2)
Also known as: Phaseolus vulgaris extract · Phase 2 carb controller · Starch blocker
Inhibits amylase — the enzyme that breaks down dietary starch. Reduces carbohydrate digestion and caloric absorption from starchy meals. Most evidence is with the Phase 2 trademarked extract.
Effective Dose
500–1500mg / 15 min before high-carb meals

What Is White Kidney Bean Extract (Phase 2)?
White kidney bean extract contains phaseolamin — a glycoprotein that inhibits salivary and pancreatic alpha-amylase, reducing the breakdown of complex carbohydrates (starches) into absorbable sugars. Undigested starch reaches the colon and acts as a prebiotic fibre.
How It Works: The Science
Alpha-amylase cleaves alpha-1,4-glycosidic bonds in starch, converting it to maltose and glucose oligomers for further digestion. Phaseolamin competitively inhibits this enzyme, leaving starch partially or fully undigested. This reduces the postprandial glucose spike from starchy meals and delivers starch to the colon for fermentation.

Dosage Guide
Effective Dose
500–1500mg / 15 min before high-carb meals
500–1500mg, 15–30 minutes before high-starch meals (pasta, rice, bread, potato). Ineffective against sugars and fat. Best used situationally before unavoidable high-carb meals rather than continuously.
Safety Profile & Side Effects
GI symptoms (bloating, flatulence, diarrhoea) from undigested starch fermentation in the colon — start with a low dose. Generally safe.
Who Should (and Shouldn't) Take It
Those managing carbohydrate intake who frequently encounter unavoidable high-starch meals. Useful for blood sugar management and weight control when dietary compliance is difficult.
